Summary of Position:
Responsible to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Responsible for working effectively with a team of paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, parents and District office staff with the purpose of providing quality educational services for each and every student, each and every day, without exception.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction rooted in the Colorado Academic Standards in language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and health.
  • Engage students through a variety of instructional models including Direct Instruction, Small Group Instruction, Station Rotation Model, Collaborative Groups, and Independent Study/Practice.
  • Complete in a timely, accurate manner, roster and/or caseload reports, as required.
  • Continually and appropriately incorporate the use of technology in the presentation and delivery of instruction to students.
  • Continually monitor and adjust students' instruction through the use of differentiation in such a manner as to enable the student to demonstrate proficiency toward state standards.
  • Demonstrate effective use of oral and written communications in the completion of daily assigned duties.
  • Confer frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding issues that impact school performance.
  • Uses multiple measures to assess (summative and formative) and evaluate student growth and learning of the Colorado Academic Standards.
  • Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding.
  • Establish and maintain a positive learning environment that addresses the social and emotional needs of all students.
  • Monitors, supervises, coordinates and enforces rules of conduct and behavior for all students, and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, and social development.
  • Supports the relationship between the school, MCSD and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and District staff.
  • Supports MCSD and school goals.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education/Certification :
  • Bachelor's Degree AND; Must possess a current State of Colorado Teachers License or ability to obtain within first year of employment. Subject area endorsement in particular teaching area preferred.
Experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:
  • Successful completion of student teaching at a recognized college or university, or two years of regular full time elementary level teaching experience.

Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions:
  • Work is performed in a standard classroom setting with some work being performed at various District properties and off-site locations.
  • Heavy lifting, bending, stooping, sitting, standing for long periods of time may be required.
  • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 25 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
